About Dan

Fiction Novelist

Dan O’Riordan is an Irish fiction writer living in Australia whose work is inspired by real events, real people, and the often-unspoken truths that live in the shadows of ordinary lives.

Born and raised in Ireland, Dan writes stories shaped by lived experience rather than imagination alone. His fiction explores violence, family loyalty, moral ambiguity, and the quiet damage done behind closed doors, particularly in small communities where silence can be as powerful as guilt.

About Dan O'Riordan

Drawing from true cases, personal history, and extensive research, his novels blur the line between fact and fiction, asking not what should have happened, but what did and, what it cost the people involved.

Dan’s work is known for its emotional honesty, restrained prose, and refusal to offer easy answers. These are not heroic stories, but human ones told with compassion, realism, and respect for the truth behind them.

When he is not writing, Dan continues to document Irish life, memory, and injustice through storytelling that gives voice to those rarely heard.

Important People

Three lads on skateboards. One homeless man. And a bag of Supermac's chips that changes everything.

When Daniel, David and Mark first encounter Ted White sitting on a marble ledge in Arundel Square, they see exactly what everyone else sees. A man down on his luck with nowhere to be.

But Ted White is not what he appears. He is funny, wise, and quietly extraordinary. And the story of how he ended up on that ledge is one none of them will ever forget.

Important People is a gloriously funny and deeply moving story about friendship, second chances, and the unlikely people who teach us what actually matters. Set in the heart of Waterford city, it is a book for anyone who has ever walked past someone and wondered about their story.

Some stories begin with a bag of chips.

Ted White's is one of those stories.

From The Bru to The Borough

I laughed and cried in equal parts reading this book. An honest and gritty story of a boy fighting against the odds to become someone he could be proud of. He did that and much more, this book was brilliant, I couldn't put it down until it was finished. Looking forward to the next one
